Freedom Singer

on Veterans Day

I did this painting for a show at Gallery 360 in 2009.  It sold almost before it got hung on the wall.  There are only a few paintings I regret selling.  This is one of them.  It was one of those that happened so fast.  I didn't struggle with it.  It flowed. I posted it on facebook recently-during the ever-so-crazy election.  It seemed appropriate.

Now it seems appropriate for today-Veterans Day.  Freedom.  It's all people really want.  Freedom to marry, freedom from poverty, freedom of choice...freedom from war.
Despite my feelings about war, I am truly grateful for the young, the old, and the dearly departed that put their country before their own lives.  Thank you!
