Untitled

23'x24"
acrylic and colored pencil on wood

I've been waiting to post this until I came up with the right name but too bad it's time for a new piece of work!  This painting has many layers.  I wanted to do something with warm colors and I was particularly inspired by a deep rich red color that I saw...somewhere.  I could continue painting on this.  Sometimes it's hard to know when I'm finished, other times it's very clear.  Maybe it's because I enjoyed painting this so much.  I can remember the music that I was listening to and the good feelings I was experiencing from the colors, etc.  I'm listening to music more often now while working because of that.  It's a nice break from my much-loved MPR talk shows.

And like knowing when it's finished or not, naming pieces either comes very easily or not.

Since this post I have titled this piece, 'Summer Spots'

  1. I sure like your paintings. I know what you mean about the stress of working on an expensive canvas. I started a big canvas and halfway thru froze, I paid 37.00 for this canvas (a fortune!) and didn't want to wreck it, so of course I did. Now I'm going to gesso the whole thing and start over. Anyway your colors are clear and bright; your dogs are fantastic.
